This original Victorian grey Bardiglio marble arched chimneypiece is a fine example of 19th century design and craftsmanship. Large and imposing in scale, it has been carved from richly veined Italian Bardiglio Fiorito marble, sourced from Serravezza near Carrara, renowned for its dramatic grey tones and swirling natural patterns.

At the centre of the surround sits a curved corbel keystone, a characteristic feature of the Victorian period. The main body is decorated with thumbnail carvings that highlight and frame the generous arched fire opening, while a simple but proportionate shelf completes the piece above. The shelf can be professionally reduced in size if required, without losing the overall harmony of the design.

The striking veining of Bardiglio Fiorito gives this chimneypiece a bold yet elegant appearance, making it equally suited to traditional and contemporary interiors. It pairs particularly well with an arched cast iron fireplace insert, a decorative fire basket, or fire dogs.

Presented in excellent condition, the marble surface is smooth, the carved details remain crisp, and the overall structure is strong and stable throughout. Its combination of scale, quality, and material makes this an outstanding statement piece for a home, restoration project, or gallery setting.

Shelf: 76.8cm (195cm) wide x 11.8cm (30cm) deep
Overall height: 51.6cm (131cm)
Opening: 38.2cm (97cm) tall x 39.8cm (101cm) wide
