Quality shows in the details, and this Victorian writing desk has them everywhere — the double moulded edge to the inlaid burr walnut top, the shaped sides to the frieze drawer, the gilded brass galleries above the drawers, the ormolu at the top and foot of every cabriole leg. The glazed upper cabinet opens to a fitted mirror and shelf, giving the piece real practicality alongside its decorative presence, while the shaped walnut mirror linking the rear legs is a refined finishing touch rarely seen.
