A stunning and rare 19th-century Victorian Chesterfield — a large three-seater of serpentine form in button-down brown leather, England, circa 1880. It retains its original brown leather hide, now cleaned and polished, over horsehair padding that gives the sofa a soft, sumptuous feel you only get with period upholstery. The full button-down seat is matched by a button-down scroll back and armrests, and remarkably it keeps all of its original buttons. It stands on hand-turned mahogany front legs and splayed mahogany rear legs, all finishing on original period brass castors. A fine, high-quality example with a lovely patina throughout.
