Description:

This bed is constructed from many sections and elements, so our description will start with the 3-sided architectural cornice, which is decorated with a lower reeded edge, salt and pepper tooth inlay, contrasting colored mahogany, and finished with alternating cross and ball-applied carvings. These 3 sections attach to the 1-piece canopy roof, which has 4 panels each decorated with inlaid fans and stringing. Underneath the canopy roof are three removable brass rods for the suspension of a fabric or curtain.

The back board echoes the canopy roof in its design, complete with a paneled cushioned headrest and block back legs and supports. The main feature of the bed and what makes it different from anything we have seen before are the front posts, which comprise separate sections of porcelain, very much in the majolica style. Urn and vase shapes, each decorated with painted flowers or butterflies, are further decorated with gold leaves and gilt elements. Interior padded footboard, with a beautifully inlaid bed end with carved swags and roundels. Beautifully hand-carved front legs, with applied plaques that cover the construction holes, terminating on the carved front foot.

Both side rails have been inlaid and strung the same way, with the same carved design as the front end. It comes with a duvan supported by the rails, wooden slats, and a front-to-back cross beam.

Dimensions
Height: 103.25 in (262.26 cm)
Width: 75 in. (190.5 cm)
Depth: 90 in (228.6 cm)
