At the centre of the surround sits a curved corbel keystone, a characteristic Victorian feature, while thumbnail carvings frame and highlight the generous arched fire opening. A simple but proportionate shelf completes the design above and can be professionally reduced in size if required, without losing the harmony of the piece. Large and imposing in scale, the chimneypiece is in excellent condition — the marble smooth, the carving crisp, the structure strong and stable.
