This is a fireplace that lays out the classical vocabulary with real discipline. Worked in fine Carrara statuary marble with rich Sienna marble inlay, it gathers the motifs that defined Georgian neoclassicism: a Greek key frieze for linear order, an egg-and-dart border framing the opening, and a carved central keystone — a classical basket form — set against a contrasting Sienna ground. The warm Sienna panels to the jambs and frieze ends bring colour and depth against the cool white body, and the moulded breakfront shelf rests on scrolled corbel brackets that lend the design both strength and rhythm. Gently restored in-house and ready for installation, its crisp carving and fine marble surfaces let it sit seamlessly in a period property or stand boldly in a contemporary scheme.
