The two halberdiers are what make this pair so compelling. Each window depicts a Swiss Guard in colourful Renaissance attire, a sword at the waist, set against a tinted lattice background framed in amber and red stained glass that brings real vibrancy and depth to the design. Painted with grisaille and enamels on cathedral glass, the figures are rendered with remarkable precision — a rare example of fine 19th-century figural stained glass. Around 1980 the windows were fully restored by a leading American stained glass specialist and sandwiched between tempered glass panels for protection, making them ready to display, hang, or integrate into architecture. In very good condition, this matched pair makes a striking focal point as standalone decorative pieces or repurposed in interior doors.

Dimensions (each):
Width: 16.25″ (41 cm)
Height: 51.5″ (131 cm)
Depth: 1″ (2.5 cm)
