A magnificent 19th-century French Empire chimneypiece, crafted from statuary white marble and deep green marble and enriched with ormolu bronze mounts. The design embodies the grandeur of the Empire period, where neoclassical architecture met luxurious imperial decoration. The frieze is adorned with bronze garlands and swags, centred with ribbon-tied laurel motifs and flanked by rosette paterae. The jambs take the form of fluted columns with Ionic capitals, dressed with cascading bronze swags, ribbons and tassels, while the fire opening and hearth are framed in contrasting green marble that sets off the crisp statuary body. A moulded mantel shelf crowns the whole, lending balance and prominence to the richly decorated frieze. A striking and imposing surround, ready to serve as the focal point of a period restoration or a sophisticated modern interior.

Dimensions:
Overall height (excluding hearth): 120 cm
Overall width (top): 167 cm
Overall width (base): 158 cm
Overall depth: 10 cm
