A beautiful Louis XV secretaire from France, dating to around 1770. Veneered in walnut with plum, satinwood and kingwood marquetry, it is distinguished by exquisite figural marquetry to the outside of the fall front. The writing surface is covered with leather (replaced), and the interior of the writing top holds six drawers and a central compartment. The secretaire retains its original brass fittings and is in very good condition, having been carefully refinished and French polished to revive the superb colour of the different wood grains. A genuine 18th-century French piece of real elegance and quality.
