A beautiful Steinway & Sons Model S baby grand, handcrafted in 1990 at the Steinway factory in New York. At 5’1″, the Model S is Steinway’s most compact grand — ideal for refined interiors, urban homes and intimate performance spaces without sacrificing the legendary warmth and power of the Steinway tone. Privately held since new, this instrument has been lightly played, routinely serviced and never rebuilt, retaining its original Steinway components and premium handcrafted construction: a straight-grain spruce soundboard, vertically laminated hard-rock maple bridges, Steinway-engineered string scale and a rock-solid multi-ply maple pin block.

An independent evaluation has been performed. The spruce soundboard is premium grade with no cracks or separation; the bridges and bridge caps are excellent with no splitting at the bridge pins; the pin block and tuning pins are original and solid, with stable torque ensuring strong tuning stability. The original steel and copper-wound strings show only minor cosmetic rust on the speaking length with no impact on tone. The action is fully original with smooth playability and normal hammer wear, requiring no reshaping, and the key bushings are excellent, contributing to a precise touch.

The piano is fitted with a fully functional PianoDisc IQ player system — Wi-Fi enabled and compatible with iOS 12+ (iPhone/iPad), with a large built-in music library included and free streaming holiday and classical selections available in-app. It comes with paired audio speakers and is fully upgradeable to PianoDisc Prodigy. A fantastic enhancement for entertainment, events and demonstrating the Steinway’s expressive performance.

The cabinet retains its original satin ebony finish, graded “fair” by the technician, with light surface wear from use, one professionally touched-up scrape at the rear edge, and the most visible cosmetic marks to the lid. Overall it presents elegantly.
