This fantastic antique Victorian dining set comprises a mahogany and parcel gilt twin pedestal dining table by the renowned Glasgow cabinet maker and retailer Wylie & Lochhead, circa 1850, paired with a set of twelve Hepplewhite Revival shield back dining chairs. The oval-shaped table is crafted from solid mahogany and fitted with four leaves that can be added or removed as needed via a special winding mechanism, offering genuine flexibility for everyday dining or larger gatherings. It is raised on a pair of beautifully carved and gilded pedestal bases with downswept legs terminating in scroll feet, complete with original brass and porcelain recessed castors. The accompanying set of twelve shield back chairs — ten side chairs and two armchairs — is handcrafted from solid mahogany, featuring an attractive shieldback design with backs and seats upholstered in fine light grey fabric, standing on square tapering front legs with spade feet. In excellent condition throughout, the table has been beautifully cleaned, polished, and waxed, while the chairs have been polished and reupholstered in-house — a handsome, museum-quality dining set certain to become a treasured centerpiece and conversation starter.
