A handsome dual-purpose piece: it reads as a tall flame mahogany chest of seven drawers, but the top three fronts fold down to reveal a fitted writing interior — the secretaire à abattant arrangement the French did so well. The flame figure in the mahogany is the standout feature, and the fitted desk is genuinely usable, with proper knee clearance when open.
